My Euros Quarterfinals Predictions

Image
Here we go again! I only predicted 5 of the 8 teams from the round of sixteen to go through, and I didn't get a single scoreline right so... thanks for actually returning to look at my predictions for this round. As there are less fixtures to get through, I'll go into a bit more detail than last time out. Also, someone has to say it: GREALISH IS SO OVERATED AND FOR SOME REASON PUNDITS GO CRAZY AND ACT LIKE HE'S THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST. I mean he seriously had nothing to do with the first goal, and it was Shaw who created the second goal, yet the commentators acted as if his inclusion made all the difference. Meanwhile the likes of Mount, Foden, Sakha, Sancho, Sterling, Rashford, etc. have all been more impressive than him for England. Also, just saying, I predicted an underwhelming tournament from Portugal so... Spain 3-2 Switzerland Switzerland have already exceeded expectations by making it this far in the competition. Spain had a bit more pressure and have been sligh

My Euros Round of 16 Predictions

Image
My group stage predictions were a mixed batch, and I'm hoping to turn it around here. Pretty simple concept: I'm predicting the round of sixteen. What are the results gonna be? What about the highlights? Let's find out. Wales 1-3 Denmark Wales take the lead through a cracker of a goal from Bale within the first ten minutes, and no goals for the rest of the half. Denmark get a late goal to take it to extra time, were they seal the deal with a good team goal and another wondergoal, knocking Wales out in Amsterdam. Man of the Match: Kasper Schmeichel, who keeps Denmark in it with a couple of brilliant saves. Italy 1 (5) - (3) 1 Austria  A brilliant goal from David Alaba sees Austria go ahead, but he has to drop to center-back after an early sending-off for one of the Austria defenders. Italy get back on level terms, Immobile practically walking the ball into the net in the fifty-somethingth minute. Italy dominate, but miss a lot of chances and Austria defend well. No-one score

Fenrir Greyback Part 1: 5 Similar Characters

Image
Hello everyone! This post is the first of a three-part series on Fenrir Greyback, Harry Potter's most underrated villain. In this series I will discuss 5 of his inspirations, what I think his backstory is, and finally why him turning evil is the fault of the ministry. I really think he is not spoken about enough, just like most villains outside the duo of Voldemort and Malfoy, and I would like to cast some light on this creepy character. 5: Fenris Wolf Rick Riordan fans will probably be familiar with this canine carnivore, and I think this is a good point to start the list with. A heartless but intelligent villain, Fenris Wolf famously took all of the gods, as well as a few dwarves and the sacrifice of Tyr's hand to subdue.  He, like Fenrir, had no lack of bloodlust, and it was no mistake that Fenrir  Greyback was named after Fenris  Wolf. Two big bad wolves fighting for freedom and the chance to lead an army at the final battle, neither of these murderous mongrels is someone w

Euros Matchday 2 Predictions

While my group predictions already look pretty bad, especially after my two dark horses Turkey and Hungary both lost 3-0 (how do you defend well the entire game and then concede 3 goals in 8 minutes right at the end). Despite this, I will valiantly go on, failing horribly at every turn, before I finally give up. So let's look at the upcoming matchday and try to predict what the result of each fixture will be. Finland 1-3 Russia Finland are at their first major tournament, and while this is a heroic achievement, you cannot pretend they are in that upper echelon of national teams yet. While Russia have gotten worse since the 2018 World Cup, they are still undoubtedly the better team, and should win the game comfortably, with Finland's goal only being a consolation goal when Russia are 2-0 up. Turkey 3-1 Wales I am going to stick by my prediction that Turkey will top the group, and seeing aside Wales should not be a difficult task for them. I say Wales will strike first from a set

Magnus Chase: 5 Best Side Characters

Image
I am in the middle of reading the Magnus Chase series for the seventh time, and as I haven't done much book content recently I thought I would do a post on the series. I thought long and hard about what I should speak about before settling for this idea. To be clear, I count the main characters as the protagonists: Magnus, TJ, Mallory, Halfborn, Alex, Jack, Blitz, Hearth and Sam, so I will be ranking the top five characters not in that list. I am ranking them based on how enjoyable they were to read about, how interesting they were. 5: Thor The God of Thunderclaps in more than one way, Thor is the only one in this list I am still not too sure about. I eventually went for him because he is hugely important in the series and provides comedy relief. He is quite hilarious and, as with many other gods in Rick Riordan's universe, I really enjoy how he seems so... ungodly.  Other competitors for this role were Mimir, Amir, Ratatosk and Junior, with a special mention to Otis, along wit
