England's Best VI

Going into the Euros next month, possibly the biggest squad dilemma lies with England. With so much young talent, England Manager Graham Southgate is very often criticized for his squad choices, most notably in the Central Attacking Midfield position.

However, we need to understand what a difficult position he is in and how many players he actually has at his disposal. We also need to understand that he needs to focus on how good a player is on average rather than form if he wants a team to gel.

So today I am going to put together MY opinion on the best team, but will also take into account what most England fans have been saying about who should get in the team. I will be using a 4-1-4-1 formation.

GK: Nick Pope

With his biggest opposition being Dean Henderson, who has no match fitness due to his bench-warming and England's current number 1 being the continually inconsistent and accident prone Jordan Pickford, I think Pope should scrape into the team due to his consistency and fitness.

LB: Ben Chilwell

One of the few chinks in England's armor, while Right Back is overflowing with quality, the left-back position is mostly rather mediocre, and England's first choice has to go to Ben Chilwell, although Bukayo Saka is a quality player coming in a close second. Third choice, however, tells you all you need to know about this positions squad depth; it's Aaron freaking Creswell.

CB: John Stones

Centre Back may not be England's best position, but they do have a huge amount of players of the same fairly-high standard. With his current Manchester City form, I would say Stones is deserving of a spot in the England team.

CB: Joe Gomez
I'm not a big fan of Joe Gomez, but I think this no-nonsense defender will compliment the lanky John Stones well. As long as he can't give away a pointless penalty by fouling Sterling in the box if they're on the same team. At least he'll do it better than the Manchester United reject Chris Smalling, an out-of-position Kyle Walker, an overrated and unfit Nathan Ake and the human refrigerator that is Harry Maguire.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold
It's no secret that England are stacked in the Right-Back position. Wan-Bissaka is excellent for Manchester United. Kieran Tripier is the best Right-Back playing in Spain. Tariq Lamptey and Reece James are brilliant young talents. But the pick of the bunch has to be Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Pivot: Jordan Henderson (cpt)
While Harry Kane is a good Captain, he has nothing on the brilliant Jordan Henderson when it comes to leadership. The Liverpool captain may not be the most gifted player, but he brings a team together and can direct the team perfectly while he sits back at Pivot. One of England's weaker positions is definitely Defensive Midfield and he sees of Declan Rice to take the spot.

LW: Raheem Sterling

Consistently brilliant for club and country, Sterling sees off most competition with ease, but Marcus Rashford and one or two others are unlucky to miss out on this prestigious eleven. Holding the record for the most Premier League penalties won at only 26, this is a good representation of how his pace beats defenders and his excellent ability to flop around like a fish out of water. But in all seriousness, Sterling is a top player with many good years to come.

CAM: James Maddison (v.cpt)
One of the most debated topics when it comes to the England squad has to be who takes the number 10 position. So I decided "what the heck! If there are two attacking midfielders better than Rice, why not ditch him to bring in someone better who was previously excluded". That means James Maddison takes the first of the two positions, partnering....

CAM: Mason Mount
So this is gonna offend some people, but I think Mason Mount deserves his England spot that he is continually handed by Graham Southgate. He is undoubtedly a talented and lively player, and with a fair bit of versatility and no disciplinary problems (unlike his other competitor Jack Grealish), Mount gets the nod, although he would probably play to Maddison's left. I just put him here for suspense.

RW: Jadon Sancho
Despite stiff competition and a slight drop in form for club, Jadon Sancho has continued to be solid while on England duty and is undoubtedly an extremely talented player with good experience despite his tender age.

Striker: You Decide!
When it came to the Striker position, the top two candidates were obvious. However, I never got past that point. At first I was edging towards Jamie Vardy due to his speed, but then I edged towards Kane due to his top form.
I could not distinguish between them when it came to talent, and I tried to see who would suit the team better, but to no avail. While Kane holds the edge with chemistry and experience, Vardy is far better suited to being the sole man up front and is an exclusively attack-minded Striker.
So I decided to get you guys to vote! Who is the best between the two? Whoever gets the most comments in favor of them below wins and I will announce the winner in my next post. So make sure to head down their to get your opinion heard and send your friends over to my blog too so they can also have a say in the matter.

Another post down. Wow, we're edging very close to a quarter-century of posts! Hope you enjoyed. Please remember to vote below and get your friends to vote too. Bye! Noah Ծ_Ծ

    2. But he's not England quality, he should play for Ireland. He wouldn't make Scotland because of Robertson
