2019/20 Season: 1st World VI

Hello again. I'm doing something a little different today, but I hope any soccer fans out there thoroughly enjoy this list, although please understand that this is entirely my opinion and you can leave any of your thoughts in the comment section below. I will be using a 4-2-3-1 formation, just to clear up any confusion.

I am also sincerely sorry to anyone who feels that the team is unfairly dominated by two teams, but as these two are (I feel) currently the world's best, and both achieved great heights in the recent season of football, I felt they deserved to take more places than any other teams. These are not necessarily the most talented, but the eleven who had the best season. Let's kickoff!

CF: Robert Lewandowski
Easily the most obvious decision of the lot, our much-loved late-blooming CF has enjoyed the best season of his life, and would have been the obvious choice for the Ballon d'Or had it not been cancelled. Lewandowski won and was top scorer in the DFB-Pokal, Bundesliga and Champion's League, and easily seals his spot in this prestigious squad. Special Mention must go to Erling Haaland and Ciro Immobile, but Lewi takes the spot.

 LW: Jamie Vardy

Out wide on the left wing I could look no further than this season's Premier League Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy, despite CF being his preferred position. Leicester's star man had another brilliant season under Brendan Rodgers as the party-loving underdog continues to impress and improve despite turning 34 at the start of next year. Shout-out to Sadio Mané and Cristiano Ronaldo, but Vardy takes the left wing.

CAM: Thomas Müller
As we are making use of Bayern Munich's formation, I could look no further than Robert Lewandowski's partner in crime, Thomas Müller. The self-dubbed 'Raumdeuter' or 'Space Investigator', the humorous and unique player recently had one of his best seasons yet, and his partnership with Lewandowski will surely make for a unstoppable team. No mentions needed.

RW: Mohamed Salah
Salah has (yet again) proved the haters wrong, and the Egyptian King broke a few more records, scored a few more goals and registered a few more assists this season, and looks to continue reaching new heights this season, and has already scored eight goals this season. Many competitors came close, but the Scouser ultimately won out, being the highest scorer in Liverpool's squad who finally brought the Premier League home after a 30 year drought. Special mention goes to Lionel Messi, Serge Gnabry and Jadon Sancho, but this year Salah wins out.

CM: Kevin de Bruyne
City as a whole may have had a rather unsatisfactory season, but the Ginger Magician was an exception to that, tying Thierry Henry's record of 20, yes 20, assists in England's First Division of Football. KDB has been one of the best for years now, and despite having been a Liverpool fan in his youth, de Bruyne has continued only to allow T-A-A and Robertson settle for 2nd and 3rd on the assist charts.

CM: Jordan Henderson
For CM, along with the captaincy role, I could look no further than the criminally underrated Jordan Henderson. Hendo may not be the most talented, but has brought to Liverpool what no one else could. He is, in my opinion, the best captain in the world of football at this point in time, and his loyalty and determination will be appreciated by Liverpool and England forevermore. Special mention must go the likes of fellow teammates Fabinho and Thiago, along with others, but Henderson takes the W.

LB: Alphonso Davies
At only 20 years of age, Alphonso is already the highest-achieving Canadian footballer ever. The young left back (who until recently was a left winger) is already the best in world football. The speedy ball carrier is one of the best attacking backs in the world right now, and sees off his only competitor, Andy Robertson, fairly easily to become the third Bayern inclusion of this list.

CB: Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool equal Bayern's count of three players in the team with the towering Virgil van Dijk. VVD only came into the scene fairly recently, but Liverpool's vice-captain has cemented himself as one of the best center-backs in history. The Dutchman placed second in the most recent Ballon d'Or, and was an obvious inclusion in the first of the center-back roles.

CB: Sergio Ramos

He's dirty, he's mean, he'll make you kick and scream... Sergio Ramos. The famous Madrid'sta's inclusion probably won't make Mo very happy, but you get what you get. The 34-year-old is the fifth 30-or-over inclusion, and he is still the most feared defender in the world. Whether he's breaking your leg, or faking that you broke his, captain Ramos was an obvious inclusion.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold

Yours truly, the worlds best right-back had another excellent season, rebreaking the record assists for a fullback in Premier League history. A key feature in Liverpool's deadly counter-attacks, Trent is a exciting young player with pinpoint passing and an uncanny ability when it comes to freekicks. He is the perfect fit for Liverpool's style of play, and the England International easily beats out competition to take his place in this star-studded VI.

GK: Manuel Neuer

No, Neuer is not the best Goalie in world football right now. However, in terms of 2019/20 he was simply unstoppable. The number 1 for both Bayern and Germany, Neuer completely revolutionized the keeper position, and nowadays keepers need to be able to clean up counter attacks with split second 'sweeper-keeper' strategies. He just beat out the likes of Alisson, Ederson, Oblak, etc. to take the number one shirt and leave the eleven with eight players from Liverpool and Bayern and 6 players who have reached their 30th birthday.

Coach: Hansi Flick
Fairly straightforward here, Flick was the best boss of the year. Obviously the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Julian Nagelsman, Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte, among others, had a good season, but the longtime backup is the obvious choice for the job. In his short time as boss he has harnessed the power of Robert Lewandowski, among others, to win three, yes three trophies in a season. He has strengthened the wall between Bayern and the others in the Bundesliga, and by doing this he became the first of four, yes four, Germans to be in the top four  of the coaches competition this year.

Thanks for coming! Leave any thoughts in the comments below and I am up for a debate if anyone has some big issues with my eleven. Please subscribe and share the blog and I'll see you next time! Noah ;^)

This list is dedicated to Diego Armando Maradona Franco (1960-2020). Hero, Idol, Legend.
