Survivor South Africa: Immunity Island Players Ranked

While we are still waiting expectantly on the 41st installation of Survivor, Survivor South Africa: Immunity Island is well underway. I am a huge fan of Survivor, and have hated the burden that the Covid restrictions have placed on it. So I was hugely happy when I heard about the South African installation's new season. I think, unlike many countries' Survivors, South Africa's one is almost identical to the original, and I have really enjoyed the first few episodes. Now that I have seen the players in action and how they coped with a tribe swap, I will be ranking them based on how likely I think it is that they will make it to the end. I think this is a better indication of there skill than whether or not they win, as the likes of Russel Hantz (Samoa) and Rob Cesternino (The Amazon), along with many others, have often been better players than the winners of their given seasons. I will obviously only be ranking the remaining members.

14: Wardah

Wardah started off fairly well, but right now her only hope in the game is Anesu. Zamba looks to be going to tribal council again, having lost the last 5 challenges, and I would think that she, along with challenge threats Chappies (who can defect to the other side) and Anela, are the favorites to go home. It is also true that Anesu is a very intelligent player who seems to have an allegiance with everyone, and while she seems to have bonded quite significantly with Wardah may have to leave her behind if she sees Wardah at the bottom.

13: Qieän

While Qieän hasn't stepped on anyone's toes since the first two episodes, I have two big reasons why she won't make it, despite not being a threat. Firstly, her main allegiance is with Shaun, who is really brash and could likely make her an enemy through association. The second is that Survivor is a show and the producers try to edit it into a story. They already know who'll win, and they try to push you to support or hate that person. However, Qieän has had probably the least screen time out of the entire cast and this leads me to believe she will not make the final tribal other than as a potential jury member.

12: Shaun

I put Shaun a spot ahead of his ally Qieän because I think he really wants it and also has a few more allies. I also believe that if his head were to be on the block he is committed enough to throw his everything at a challenge, whether it is physical or mental, much like Christian in the David vs Goliath season where he lasted 5 and a half hours in an endurance challenge. However, his brash behavior and that challenge potential will almost certainly make him an early vote-out. He could pull a Spencer Bledsoe move and become a challenge beast and go far, but I doubt it.

11: Anela

I really like Anela, but I think he has to be an obvious vote. He is pretty good at the social game and everyone seems to like him, but he is pretty far down the pecking order and an obvious vote if Zamba lose again. While his easy-going personality and challenge ability are an asset prior to merge, I think he will struggle after merge.

10: Marisha

I have this hunch that Marisha will go out to shield an allegiance member, and I don't know why. She is a huge challenge threat, and I think her being quite well-liked will not bode well for her allegiance at the end. No-one wants to face her in the final 3.

9: Nicole

Not only is she a bit of a way down the pecking order, but she was identified as a huge threat by Dino after she revealed that she had a brilliant poker face when lying to Thoriso. I don't really see her going too far, as she doesn't really seem to have a super solid mental or physical game. And again, her screen time is limited.

8: Amy

Someone who I confused with both Nicole and Carla, while Amy seems intelligent she has been caught lying, and does not posses a brilliant social or physical game. I think she could possibly make it to the end, but even if she did I don't see too many votes going her way.

7: Chappies

I think its now or never, and Chappies is extremely likely to get voted out within the next four or five tribals. If he doesn't though, I could see him going far and potentially winning, as he seems to have a good social game, a fair amount of intellegence (although he can be naïve at times) and is obviously very good at challenges.

6: Tyson

A sort of Russel Hantz figure, while you love to watch him play he has very little chance of winning, even though he is likely to go far. Tyson is one of the most entertaining figures on the season, and I originally had him at 4 before re-evaluating, because he can be brash, is a physical threat, and often crosses people. I would tip him to go far if he can cement his relationships with Kiran and Renier.

5: Santoni

Santoni did not start well, and she was mostly kept around because no-one thought of her as a threat. That illusion is gone now, and she has been exposed as a powerful double-agent. I think she will stay for long, but will probably be voted out around 5 or 6 because she can double-cross you and is therefore a sort of "wild card" you don't really want as a close ally.

4: Kiran

I think, as long as Kiran sides with the majority, he is going places. He has pretty good brains, he is good in physical challenges, and he has the second-best social game of anyone, after Anesu. I can see him being a bit naïve and getting betrayed and blindsided, but as long as that is avoided I would bet on him making top 6 comfortably.

3: Dino

I have seen a lot of people betting against Dino, but I disagree. Other than being a bit overly paranoid, Dino has consistently been a powerful player in every way. I think that keeping his allegiance with Renier should put him in a good spot to go all the way.

2: Anesu

Anesu has one of the best social games I have ever seen, and this is not her only asset. No-one wants to vote her out and, somehow, no-one has actually identified her as a threat on-camera. I think she is a likely winner and only narrowly missed out on first position.

1: Renier

As far as I can see, Renier is everyone's favorite to win. He, like Anesu, has an excellent social game as is seemingly aligned with everyone, but what sets him apart is that he is also the top dog in a powerful allegiance on Vuna. He also understands the game more than anyone there, and being a huge fan means that he can predict what will happen perfectly and generally knows what sort of challenge will arise and when.
