My Euros Semifinal Predictions

Out of the four quarterfinal fixtures, only one of my predictions for the winners was wrong, as I thought Belgium would overcome Italy. So yeah, not bad going since getting 6/8 of my predictions right in the quarterfinals is better than the 5/8 I got in the round of 16. So let's hope I can get both of my predictions for the semi's right, and hopefully some smaller predictions too.

Italy vs Spain

10' Insigne
28' Immobile
72' OG Bonucci
86' 🟥 Koke
90+2' Insigne
Score: 3 - 1
Italy Lineup: Donnarumma (GK), Emerson (LB), Chiellini (CB), Bonucci (CB), Di Lorenzo (RB), Verratti (CM), Jorginho (CDM), Barella (CM), Insigne (LW), Immobile(CF), Chiesa (RW)
Spain Lineup: Simón (GK), Alba (LB), P. Torres (CB), Laporte (CB), Azpilicueta (RB), Pedri (CM), Busquets (CDM), Koke (CM), Sarabia (LW), Morata (CF), F. Torres (RW)
Man of the Match: Lorenzo Insigne
Italy's strength lies in defense, while Spain are strong on the attack, but are prone to conceding. I think that, at least so far in the tournament, Insigne has been one of Italy's two or three most important players, as the only real flair player in their squad, and I think he will be able to penetrate the suspect Spanish defense with ease, and capture the first goal.
Immobile will put Italy 2-0 up in the 28th minute. Italy are put under pressure when Ferran Torres gets to the byline and plays a brilliant cross across Simón's goal towards Morata, and Bonucci, as Italy's last man, diverts it into his own net. Despite a second yellow for Koke, Spain control the rest of the game, with Donnarumma making a couple of smart saves to keep out Morata and Ferran Torres. Spanish hearts are broken, however, as Italy score through Insigne as they counterattack after a Spanish corner in the 92nd minute.

England vs Denmark
12' Sterling
26' Christensen
39' Kane
45+3' Rashford
47' Braithwaite
68' Dolberg
90+2' Henderson
Score: 4-3
England Lineup: Pickford (GK), Shaw (LB), Maguire (CB), Stones (CB), Walker (RB), Rice (CDM), Henderson (CDM), Sterling (LM), Mount (CAM), Rashford (RM), Kane (ST)
Denmark Lineup: Schmeichel (GK), Vestergaard (CB), Kjær (CB), Christensen (CB), Maehle (LWB), Delaney (CM), Højbjerg (CM), Larsen (LWB), Braithwaite (CAM), Damsgaard (CAM), Dolberg (ST)
This could go two ways, and its basically up to Southgate to decide which. If he were to play a back five, I would think that the game wouldn't have more than three goals, but a back four would mean goals galore because there are two free-flowing, talented teams. I'm going to say that Southgate will play a back four, and because of this I would predict an exciting 4-3 England win at Wembley. Denmark are the dark horses, and the only nation I would have been surprised about making the top four, as England, Italy and Spain are all big teams, historically and currently.
Sterling to score early on before Denmark equalize with Christensen powering home a header of a set piece. Kane puts England back in front, before Rashford doubles their lead. However, two second-half Denmark goals tie it all up, before Henderson scores an emotional goal in the second minute of added time to win it for England.

So there we have it! Some big scorelines, but go big or go home, I guess. Anyway, Italy to play England in the finals, and I'll be sure to do another post about my predictions for that game when the time comes. Hope you enjoyed, share my blog with your friends and follow me on social media to be the first to find out about when I post. See you next time! Noah ⦽⏟⦽
