We have a huge cause for celebration... MAN CITY ARE STILL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BOTTLERS. WOOHOO! It would have been quite sad if they won and us Liverpool, United, Arsenal and Chelsea fans didn't have anything to laugh about (the less said about Spurs being Spursy, the better). Anyway, my list for today is not the team of the season, but the best team you could possibly make with the competitors of this years Barclay's Premier League. I will be utilizing a 4-1-3-2 formation. So without further ado, let's get into the list.
Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker
The first of five LFC players, it is no secret that I think Alisson is the best keeper in the Premier League, with Ederson in second. The Brazilian shot-stopper is the ideal modern-day goalkeeper. He is second only to Jan Oblak when it comes to the traditional keeping and reflexes, and is in the top three along with Ederson and Manuel Neuer at the more modern areas of goalkeeping: with the ball at his feet. Ederson is probably slightly better when it comes to distribution and maybe also with regards to "sweeping", but the ultimate goal of a goalkeeper is saves, keeping the ball out of your own net, and in this regard he is definitely by far second-best.
Left-Back: Andy Robertson
I actually think that, at this point in time, Andy Robertson is the best fullback in the league. Every time I've seen someone making their Premier League Team of the Seasons they act as if Luke Shaw is an obvious pick. Oh really? Is anyone going to say in the comments that, at any given point during this season they would rather have Shaw in defense that Robertson. Just because he has been consistent ever since signing for Liverpool and has not made any drastic improvements in no way means he was worse, just that his brilliance was less surprising. The Scotland captain is hugely dependable and deservingly takes his spot.
Centre-Back: Virgil van Dijk (Captain)
I know what you're thinking: Oh, he wouldn't be putting in three straight Liverpool inclusions if he wasn't biased. But can you honestly tell me that Alisson Becker, Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk do not deserve a spot in this eleven. Anyway, there is only one non-defensive Liverpool player, so keep your hat on. While he was the victim of a terrible Jordan Pickford tackle during the Merseyside Derby, a game that also saw a few dodgy offside calls go in Everton's favor, he is still inarguably a brilliant center-half.
Centre-Back: Rúben Dias
Oh dear. If you're an attacker, you may as well walk away now, because it would be easier to break through a brick wall. While he has been brilliant with John Stones this season, imagine how good he would be with someone even better than himself. Pretty simple inclusion, really.
Right-Back: Trent Alexander-Arnold
He may not have had the best of seasons, but Trent Alexander-Arnold is still the best right-back the world has to offer, and in this position he can utilize his telepathic relationship with Andy Robertson. He can also play with more confidence, as the role that would usually go to Joe Gomez is occupied by the much more reliable Rúben Dias.
Central Defensive Midfielder / Pivot: N'golo Kanté
A tireless and gifted midfield workhorse, Kanté is the most important player in this team. He never stops running, and will sit deep and win back balls in midfield, leaving the other midfielders with a license to attack as they wish. He will also be needed at the back when Trent and Robertson get forward, and will drop into center-back when Virgil and Dias go forwards for set pieces.
LM: Kevin de Bruyne (Vice Captain)
A nailed-on inclusion, the ginger machine will be able to roam freely on the left side of midfield, picking passes and providing some width when needed. He will also be one of the four who is on set piece duty, along with the two fullbacks and the upcoming right-midfield inclusion.
Central Midfielder: Mason Mount
The last of two Chelsea inclusions, Mount will sit just that little bit deeper than the midfielders on either side of him. However, with Kanté behind him he will still be allowed to get forward relatively freely and I think he fits into the team better than Maddison, Grealish or Foden would, as he is a bit more defensively sound.
Right Midfielder: Bruno Fernandes
Don't get your panties in a knot, United fans because I was always going to play Bruno Fernandes. He will basically do exactly what de Bruyne does, with the exception of doing it on the right, and yes, he will be on penalties. Good grief, as long as they're not associated with Manchester City I would probably allow you to take penalties.
Left Centre-Forward: Harry Kane
Spurs fans get their inclusion, with Kane being one of the two forwards. I am still mad about him being England captain ahead of Henderson, but I can not argue that he isn't a top class footballer. And let me reiterate the fact that I doubt he will be leaving Spurs this summer so I can say I told you so when the window slams shut.
Right Center-Forward: Mohammed Salah
Ending it off strong, Salah will take a slightly more central role than his usual one out on the wing. The top two scorers of this Premier League season make up our front two, and I don't really think there are two many argumentative inclusions in this list.
My team: Alisson / Robertson, Vvd, Dias, Trent / Kanté / Mount, KdB, Bruno / Kane, Salah /
Another list done and dusted, I am pretty sure I have picked the best possible team. If you disagree, please comment your thoughts down below and please also remember to share my blog with your friends if you enjoyed todays list. I hope you have a good day further and I will see you when next I post. Bye! Noah v( ‘.’ )v
