Euro 2020 Group Stage Predictions

The Euros are almost upon us! I, for one, am really excited to see the star-power that will be on display, and it will also be interesting to see how teams look ahead of the World Cup next year. Looking at the teams, I honestly think only North Macedonia and Finland have no chance of winning (sorry North Macedonia and Finland). While my Premier League predictions were terrible, the rest of my predictions were actually quite good, so let's have a go at predicting the Euro 2020 group stage results.







Group A: 
Turkey 
Italy 
Switzerland
Wales

It is no secret that Italy have suffered a gradual decline over the last decade-or-so, while Turkey are on the rise with a young and talented squad. I think they will just edge out Italy, who will come in second. Switzerland do not have too much star-power, with Yan Sommer as their best player, but unlike Wales, they have depth, and a large proportion of their players are starters in the Bundesliga. When it comes to Wales they are completely reliant on Gareth Bale, and most of their players are either in the Championship like Harry Wilson and Joe Allen or benched in the Prem like Danny Ward, Neco Williams and Ben Davies.





Group B: 
Belgium
Denmark 
Russia
Finland

Belgium, who are rated as the best national team in the world, should come first and Denmark should just edge out Russia. Finland are completely out of their depth here, and will probably just try hopeful long balls for Pukki to chase. I doubt they will win a game, with all the other teams containing more talented individuals and being more coherent groups.





Group C: 
Netherlands
Austria
Ukraine
North Macedonia

If Netherlands don't win this group, then I don't know. It is the easiest group in the competition. Austria and Ukraine will see the opportunity and battle for second, with Austria just edging Ukraine out because of a bit more depth. North Macedonia probably won't win a game.





Group D: 
England
Scotland
Croatia
Czech Republic

England should win the group, but it is honestly one of the stronger ones. Scotland and Croatia have big names on their rosters, but then when you go a bit deeper into the squad you see that there is not really any depth. Croatia's other big problem is definitely its old squad, with no youth and very little talent in wider areas, with most of the talented players playing in central midfield or as a centre-back. Scotland have very little European pedigree and experience, but I think they should just edge out Croatia. The Czech Republic in last due to not having any players in that top echelon of footballers.





Group E:
Spain 
Poland 
Sweden
Slovakia

Spain have pedigree and a whole lot of talent, so they should top the group, with Poland edging out Sweden due to depth mainly. Slovakia are quite a good team defensively, but it just takes one glance at their squad to notice that there are just about no attackers. I would not advise watching them, because they will probably have to play with basically a 5-5-0.





Group F:
Germany 
Hungary
France
Portugal

Ah, the sweet group of death. This is about as good as it gets. Germany, France and Portugal are all ranked in the top 12 of the Fifa Men's World Rakings, with Hungary coming in at 37, still exceptionally high. My big prediction is that Hungary will push to make top 2! Germany should be ranked higher than 12th and have a brilliant young squad with a sprinkling of experience that comes with the likes of Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer. France has a lot of talent up front, but lack depth at the back with the defenders and keeper. They will probably still make the round of 16 though. Portugal are brilliant but I think being ranked at 5 is not really accurate. They also have the worst goalkeeper by far of all the teams, which I think will be a problem for them.

Real Survivor: The Fox, the Bear, the Goat and the Bunny

Survivor fans such as myself are mostly familiar with certain terminology. For example, to be purpled is to be placed in the complete background of a particular editing, to the extent where you are utilized like the shelter or water well, firmly in the background of a lot of scenes without being in the forefront barring something bad happening to you, like the shelter being blown over or the well being contaminated. Perhaps the first bit of terminology that has a unique meaning is to be a goat, or someone who is used like an extra vote by another player or group of players. However, where the name "Goat" actually came from is something many fans, even hardcore ones, do not know the answer to. Danny McCray - Brad Culpepper  I really think Danny is going to end up having been one of the underrated players on this cast. So many people (including me) anticipated a big strong oaf who would boss challenges but portray "the emotional range of a teaspoon" to quote Hermione Granger. This was something most also thought would be true of Brad Culpepper, but both seem emotionally and mentally intelligent as well as being huge Survivor fans, and I think Danny will likely play a game similar to Brad's Game Changers performance, especially if he can survive the first post-merge vote.
