Is Jurgen Klopp Aiming to Win the Treble with Liverpool in 2021?

Jurgen Klopp is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in the world. After taking Liverpool from being a just-above-average Premier League team to one of, if not the, best teams in the league and, in my opinion, one of the best 2 teams in the world at full fitness, along with the mighty Bayern Munich.

The first sign that Liverpool had, and still have, what it takes to be the best was the 18/19 season, when they had significant victories against Porto, Barcelona, etc. to win the UEFA Champions League. This was followed by the Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and finally, Premier League titles.

Liverpool became a monster, and is still sitting at the top of the Premier League, although Manchester United do have the opportunity to pass them when they play Burnley. However, Liverpool would almost certainly have a further margin if it wasn't for injuries to important players.

Many have returned, but arguably Liverpool's most important player, Virgil van Dijk, is still out, seemingly until the end of the season, and is joined by Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and one or two more in the treatment room.

While this is indeed a problem, but Liverpool will have to work through it because they unfortunately have not managed to sign Shuri from Black Panther to be their doctor. However, I would theorize that Jurgen Klopp is aiming to win the Treble with Liverpool, and he wants it sooner rather than later.

It is clear why he would want it, and I would predict that there will be at least one Treble this season, whether it comes to Liverpool, Bayern or Atletico Madrid. Bayern won the Treble under Hansi Flick in the 19/20 season, while Atletico are favorites to win Spain's domestic trophies and Liverpool have held the Premier League and Champions League within the last two seasons alone, and would likely win the FA Cup if they played their best team.

This leads me to my second point on why I think Jurgen Klopp is aiming for a Treble-Winning season; the team selections, most specifically in the Aston Villa game. Liverpool completely annihilated Aston Villa in the FA Cup, the reason being that Liverpool picked about 2/3 of their first team.

This is highly unusual, because Jurgen Klopp has famously fielded young and inexperienced teams in the FA Cup, not risking his top players getting injured or tired. Then suddenly he takes no risks in the FA Cup, clearly really not wanting to lose, and this makes me feel as if yes, he does want to win the FA Cup this year, but not really for the FA Cup itself; for the Treble.

It all makes perfect sense! If you look at the current odds for teams to claim the respective competitions, Liverpool are tied top (in the case of the Champion's League) if not top outright in each one (EPL and FA Cup) as the team MOST likely to claim the respective titles, and you can see why.

Thanks for returning! Hope you all enjoyed this post and I hope I have convinced you that Liverpool are, indeed, aiming for the Treble. Comment below your thoughts, share my blog with friends, and yeah, see you next time. Noah (>'-')>

  1. I personally think in these percentages of trebles:
    40%:no treble
    35%: bayern treble
    15%:Liverpool treble
    10%:atletico treble
